Carling Cup Round 4 - Away at Sunderland!

Post by Jim » Sat Sep 27, 2008 12:26 pm

So the draws currently being made... first two teams out of the hat... Sunderland and Blackburn, so we play the Mackhems at their place! Thats a reasonable draw I think, definitely a winnable one.

Any thoughts?

Historically that's certainly true. But under Ince I'm begining to think that might all be in the past. (sic)

Well we're now ten games unbeaten in the north east on the bounce, so who knows. Would have preferred a home draw, but could have been worse.

Should win this one. Thinking we will see a 451 or a 352

I think it's totally unfair that Chelsea have been given a bye through to the next round...

Our draw is a bit of a bummer. Although we've got an excellent record against North East clubs, it's never easy to go away for a cup tie. Sunderland will be tough opponents in front of their own crowd.

Apparently McCarthy and Grella are back in training. Once they're both back along with Robinson, Dunn and Reid then we'll be pretty much full-strength again, whilst having (at least) two quality players for pretty much every position, barring wide-right; something not a lot of teams can boast.

GK - Robinson/Brown
LB - Warnock/Olsson
CB - Nelsen/Khizanishvili
CB - Samba/Ooijer
RB - Emerton/Simpson/Reid (?)
LW - Pedersen/Treacy
DM - Grella/Tugay/Mokoena
CM - Dunn/Andrews
AM - Villanueva/Derbyshire (who probably both come into the left or right-sided category, as well as strikers)
ST - Santa Cruz/Roberts
ST - Fowler/McCarthy

Not looking too bad, is it? :D :hyper:

Derbyshire really should be where you've put Fowler.
