The Great Rovers Takeover Debate

Post by RoverWithALimp » Mon Oct 05, 2009 10:16 pm

I still cant understand how a piece of shit club like Pompey can have 4 owners in 7 years, where as we haven't been able to find a half decent new owner in 9 years.

Fratton Park is the smelliest and shitiest stadium in the Premier League bar Stamford Bridge (£8 for a pint in the club bar! Fuck off!) So how they can attract interest from the middle east, where as we continue with our pocket money per season makes the mind boggle!?

Although a major cash injection is just what rovers need. The last thing rovers need is some clown with more money than brain cells sat in the crowd wearing the beloved shirt trying to pass himself off as a Rovers fan. Newcastle had it with Mike Ashley. Pompey have it with the arab in charge at the minute. Short of Jack Walker being reincarnated i'd rather have things just as they are. We might be beaten 6-2 by Arsenal but at least Rovers still have there identity and heritage which is more than the so called big four have who have all sold out to foreign investment who sooner or later will become bored and move on.

Is it time to bring up the trust again as the reason that more unscrupulous "investors" might be put off? It probably is, but I can't be arsed repeating it for the seventy squillionth time.

I can think of plenty of reasons why Portsmouth keep changing hands, but some might land me in trouble for defamation if I published them on here. One advantage they do have over Rovers is that they've got a much larger catchment area and if they could build a bigger stadium, they could develop into a much bigger club. Rovers have already gone through that stage, there's only the potential to increase revenues by improved performance on the pitch, and that's too much of a gamble to attract sensible investors.
