There is another reason we are close to relegation, we are in the midst of the most exceptional relegation battles to date in the Premier League. Never has it been this close and at such a high tally of points.

People point to Sam's last 21 games last season and Kean's this season. No pressure last season with Pompey, Hull and Burnley badly cut adrift as so often in most seasons, admittedly Kean's points tally has not been good enough, but in any other season we'd be easily safe already.
Why do you want to compare Allardyce with Kean? Allardyce is an experienced manager who did a good job here. Lets just leave out the comparisons. We can do that all day and we are getting nowhere.

Fact is that Steve Kean has not done a good job here. He has to go, its got nothing to do with who was here before him or who comes after him. All we can do is judge him over his time here and we have been the second worst team in the Premier League during that time. We have 9 points from our last 14 games which is just horrendous.

Surely you can admit that performances and results have been better in the last 5 games or so, so it's logical to assume that if Kean had been in charge from the start of the season, we would have seen this improvement earlier on and reaped the benefits...or not. It's all speculation.
Not an argument that will sway anyone hell-bent on saying he should be sacked. But that's why the debate has become so tedious, there's no way to disprove speculation as to what will happen in the future or if circumstances were different. We can all use whatever theories we want to support our case, but when an octopus can gain international fame for correctly 'predicting' World Cup matches, it shows there's a lot of randomness involved in football. Unless someone wants to argue that the octopus knew what it was doing?

If you don't want them compared then stop throwing up stats that make others and myself point out stats under Sam.

Also we've got 12 points from our last 14 games not 9. Sam went on a nearly as poor run across December, January and February last season but due to the nature of the division we remained 10+ points clear of relegation therefore it went unnoticed. The spotlight is on Kean anyway and it has been a difficult season for all Managers in the bottom half. Sam more than once went of baron runs with the team but again because relegation was a forgone conclusion, unlike this exceptional season, there was never any pressure to get us out of a mess.

I'm not for one second excusing Kean and the bad results we've had, but there are outside factors that have contributed to a difficult run in and we aren't the only club. Only recently have Fulham, Sunderland, Stoke and Villa finally felt safe, do their managers warrant such scrutiny?

We have been playing well and improving over the last 6 games, we've also been incredibly unlucky points wise against Spurs, Fulham, Blackpool, Birmingham and Man City where very fine margins saw us lose out on a number of points.

Apologies for my glass being half full, I just call it how I see it.

Our manager has the second worst points total since he took over. Only Blackpool have a worse haul since Steve Kean became manager here, Avram Grant did better than him, so did Roberto Martinez and everybody else bar Holloway. And in fairness to Holloway he has a squad of players that nobody wanted at the start of the season and most of them will not be going near a Premier League club after this season unless they stay up.

Sorry about that 9 points from our last 13 games is what I meant. And thats just horrendous.

Is that you jumping in with an insult and nothing else? "Ifs and buts are no good" ...so far that makes sense... "if" ...but you've just said ifs are no good, so whatever follows is a waste of words? Seriously, this is much more interesting than going round and round why managers should/shouldn't be compared to each other. You've made a sentence that goes round and round itself! :hyper:

But you can finger stats to say anything you want.

Last April we got 3 points in the whole month which would comfortably have us bottom of the form league in the run in with us showing relegation form, were the teams the same last season we'd have been in the thick of it, thankfully we weren't.

At what point is that better than what we've experienced this April? The difference is the circumstances of the division not the Manager's.

And yet more trolling. I responded the first time you said it with a direct comment to make sure you understood what my point was but you seem to have more fun trolling. I come here to talk about Rovers not to have a conversation with the grammar police.

Its not stats though, its plain facts. He is the second worst manager in the league since he took over. We've spent money in January and increased the wage bill by a fair amount bringing in two loan signings on top of the players we bought. And our form has gotten worse since the new signings arrived. He has to take the blame for that.
