I'd like us to play that Irish team. Maybe then they'll televise the match on a channel that we can all watch for once

This comment on 606 makes me laugh somewhat:-
RainerFromHamburg wrote:Blackburn will survive the qualifying stages but will find it hard in the UEFA-Cup-groups where they have been relatively successful last season. They haven´t really strenghtened the squad so far and will have to improve their style of play. Their exit against Leverkusen showed they are too limited technically and can be worked out by any decent team. From all British clubs involved only Spurs could make an impact and reach the semis.

I'm glad they keep these draws regional, so we don't have far to travel...

Problem is the countries nearest to us are too highly seeded

At least its summer time so we won't have snow to contend with.

Already at such an early stage the UEFA cup has destroyed our first two home Saturday fixtures meaning that they are both now scheduled for Sanitary Sundays (nothing Super about Sunday games)

Well blow me, I thought I'd research into how the UEFA Cup would affect our other home games IF we manage to get as far as we did last season

Progress to Round 1 - 2 more home games mucked up
Sat Sept 22 Portsmouth Home
Sat Oct 6 Birmingham Home

Progress to group stage (4 out of the 5 possibles will be affected)
Sat 27 Oct Spurs A
Sat 10 Oct Man Utd A
Sat 1 Dec Newcastle H
Sat 8 Dec West Ham H
Sat 22 Dec Chelsea H

So that's a possible 3 more home games ruined to a Sunday

Round of 32
Sat 14 Feb FA Cup Round 5 (should we be involved)
Sat 21 Feb Bolton H

Another home match and possibly 2 if we are at home in the cup

So there you have it. Involvement in the UEFA Cup has ruined 2 Saturday games and potentially could ruin 6, 7 or 8 more !!!!!!!!!

Argh!!!! It's time the UEFA cup was put back to Wednesday's and screw the TV pittance

Too right Rover the Moon. Most of the Champions league matches on Wednesday are on Sky anyway, and they don't televise UEFA cup. So the usual suspects: Five, ITV, Eurosport (think they'll televise us again this year, seem to like us) have all free football spots.
