Well only 9 months on and those false dawns are seemingly behind us and the team, though not quite yet looking like being capable of mounting a serious promotion challenge, is looking far better organised and with a bit more quality and desire about it.

It's been a long while since Rovers fans could, hand on heart, expect their team to win their home games but we now can.

So I'm going for a 2-0 home win

We're still shit........what a shock :D

When King has a bad game, he's bloody terrible. It took him 15 minutes before he actually looked like he realised the game had started. By which point he'd already gifted the lead to Charlton by running straight into a defender. They then sat back for the game, and we don't seem able to break anyone down without Dunn. Cairney does a good job in picking out players, but then the moves invariably break down because no one else can see what they need to do next. There doesn't seem much point in picking both Rhodes and Best if the wide players aren't going to get crosses into them. Worst home performance so far this season.

All true. Yet we could easily have had two goals... that's football, big slices of luck along the way.

How did we cope with the loss of Evans in the centre? How important is he becoming to the team?

I wouldn't say we missed him. I think Lowe and Cairney is the best combination in midfield, they complement each other quite nicely. Evans strikes me as a similar player to Lowe, grafts well but isn't the creative spark we were lacking. We still had the same problem of being unable to find a way through a ten-man defence after Williamson came on and Cairney moved onto the right.

In answer to Gibbon's implicit question,I don't think the kind of supply Rhodes needs is floaty slow crosses for the keeper to claim easily. Accuracy belies usefulness sometimes.

So you're saying that Marshall put in floaty slow crosses? or Cairney? I'm assuming Marshall, as Evans absence meant that Marshall took Cairney's spot on the right.

Actually, I'm assuming a lot seeing as though I pretty much missed everything about the match this weekend. :¬/
