The teams between us and the playoffs have a few "6-pointers" to play, and Reading still have to play 3 of the teams above them. Nothing can be taken for granted, but there's potential for a door opening for us. If it doesn't come, so be it, but it would be silly to miss out just because we thought teams above us weren't going to drop enough points.

It's 5 points effectively when you consider goal difference and even if Reading start dropping points there are so many teams waiting to snatch 6th and one will surely put a really good run together?

I reckon we'll need to win all 5 games to finish 6th, and even then it might not quite be enough.

I think winning the last 5 will be more than enough. LET'S DO IT! :hyper:

At least Varney is getting into the side and making a positive contribution as a squad player.
Because i've never seen him have a good game since his time at Blackpool and even that was only once or twice. He's basically just not a very good player and that's about it. I can't say much for Feeney as i've not seen him play (although he does have that awful record when he's come on the pitch we drop points) i'm afraid whilst Dabo was consistently doing well for the U21s i heard.

Leeds fans seemed to like him for his passion and workrate. He may not be the most talented player in front of goal, but then Dickov and Roberts were great at making openings for those around them just by being a pain in the ass.

Gestede and Rhodes are clearly streets ahead in the line for a starting place, but I can think of worse to have on the bench.

Goodwillie's been scoring goals at Blackpool though, and we'll get him back. Best too, but can't see that one working out.

Can you see Goodwillie getting in the team ahead of Gestede or Rhodes though?

He seems to be a confidence player and sitting on the bench wont do that much good.

I actually think if we go and win at Wednesday, our hardest game of our run in in my opinion, I actually think we might make the play-offs, as the next 3 games I would expect us to win given our current form and quality of the opponents.

This is a good point. In an ideal world, I think Goodwillie's an excellent squad player and back-up player to have (as is Varney), but given that his wages are rumoured to be rather large, and the fact he's likely to want more game time than we can offer him, he'll probably move on.

Just popped over to BackHenryStreet.com to see what they think of him, and I'm not sure what he's been up to...but he seems to have offended them somehow last night.

He's not even mentioned on the MOTM poll despite scoring their only goal, so something else must have gone on...trouble seems to follow him.
Goodwillie should never wear our shirt again

I think it's general fan anger nonsense - he didn't score 4 and so they lost.
