I'm not 100% sure, but I think he might have left. I'll go check.

Rover the Top wrote:I'm not sure it has been a 'complete disaster' from Venky's point of view. I think fans take a very small-time approach to the losses the club makes, viewing them in isolation. It's understandable, to the average Joe losing £20m a year seems insane, it's too much to comprehend. But the multi-millionaires and billionaires who buy football clubs don't do it to make profit. They get money from their other sources. The football club is an indulgence. And although it would be better if we were still in the PL, they still own a famous English football team. Their reputation would probably suffer more if they quit and threw away the club than it does from poor results and the odd negative article in the UK press.
When Venky's took over there was talk of Champions League qualification, high calibre signings and challenging for the Premier League title. Fast forward 6 years; we're Championship relegation flirters, signing Bolton rejects and losing money hand over first. Venky's PR image has taken a phenomenal bashing in the UK thanks to misguided, bizarre and embarrassing decision-making, mitigated only by the fact we are no longer under the glare of the Premier League spotlight. You're correct in the sense that things could be worse - we could be in administration or in League Two. However, the fact Venky's do not appear to rue the day they ever agreed to take on this club, despite a complete failure to fulfil any of their ambitions, is bizarre.

And that's the very small-time approach I was talking about. Sure, they're hated by Blackburn fans, and good for a joke to the rest of English football. But what exactly was their PR image in the UK before they took over Rovers? Nobody had heard of them. So, even though their takeover has been a disaster from the club's perspective, for them it's still raised their profile here. And as for the parts of the world where their other businesses operate, it's just advertising.

Venky's are not some sort of multi-national billion $ conglomerate or an oligarch with billions to blow. Venky's are fairly modest, Indian-centric fast food merchants. If they could afford to piss millions of £ away each year then they would have thrown more money into transfers as well to try to get us back into the Premier League where it's at. However, they clearly can't afford this. Losing money hand over fist in a Championship black hole is not sustainable for a group like Venky's in the long term. Also, the fact they are now well known in the UK means fuck all. Do they have fast food joints here? No.

In reality the "small time" approach from our fans epitomises itself in the attitude of "we are now where we deserve to be", "we punched above our weight for years" etc. With sensible owners we could have been battling in the top half of the Premier League still, where smaller, less illustrious teams like Leicester now flourish. But alas, we were taken over by idiots.

Also a fair amount of ignorance of venkys given the insistence on referring you them as a fast food company.
