I did, you can pay per game as well as pay for the whole season. Seems a decent enough service but it's pretty near bones. Still better than nothing.

I saw Southend play scunthorpe (finished in playoffs last season) and Southend won 3 - 1. They played them off the park. Southend away was always going to be a tough game. They missed the playoffs by 1 point last season I think. They have added kightly to the starting line up. Prem player last season. Hendrie at left back. Ferdinand in defence as well. Solid team. Rovers just couldn't get going.

+1.

This was always going to be a difficult game... Bit of a shame that by most accounts we went particularly great... But no reason to panic.

Rovers just looked clueless at times. Lots of hoof ball and when we had the ball around the area, the players didn't know what to do with it. Scored from a set piece butbdidn't look like scoring otherwise. Played really well for the first 15 mins of second half but that was it. Defensive frailties and Samuel was awful at best!

Disappointing, but I'll reserve judgement until we've played six games.Tbh I wish Mulgrew hadn't cracked that goal in - that would have stirred a few managers' interest.
Surely some of our younger /academy players must be good enough to play at this level? We always seem to believe other teams' rejects are better than our home grown players. We lost Mahoney because of that thinking - he should have been given his chance and a contract a couple of seasons ago.

Signed up for iFollow, its pretty nice to watch the extended highlights.

After watching the extended highlights, it was a pretty dull performance. There a couple good chances, Graham playing target and heading it down is a great move. But really no outstanding performance by anyone individually. Derrick Williams works hard, that's for sure, Evans had an anonymous performance, which is good and bad. Smallwood got us into some bad situations. Bennett had a really good chance and positioning. Feeney's shot, what was that? Raya got nutmegged, otherwise good performance. Mulgrew had that really good shot and a decent performance for letting in 2 goals.

I hope to see Caddis and Ward next match in for Nyambe and Lenihan. It will be interesting to see if he brings in more depth in this squad, especially if it's permanent.

No real surprise. The gap between divisions is not so great that you can be awful at one level but brilliant one down. Wake up call for all I feel.

Yeah but that core of players..... it's so, core-y. And it was all Coyle's fault anyway.

When you looked at Southend's and our starting line-ups, there wasn't much difference in quality between the two squads. I'm not sure why everyone thinks our squad is great and that we'll walk this league. Yes we've signed a few players, but so did Lambert and then Coyle, with people "excited" about most of their signings at the time too. The "marquee" signing of Whittingham reminds me of when we signed Danny Murphy following relegation from the Premiership, when we were also tipped to bounce straight back up.

Obviously it's a long season and we've plenty of time to sort things out, but if we go up this year I think it will be via the play-offs rather than as runaway champions. Reality = checked.

Don't mention the M word. My blood still boils when I think about that signing.
