Just started following the game. Keeping a point would be nice; getting all three, would not be expected, but wonderful

Rovers while not exactly on the up this season are certainly not on the down.
:? Second in league one last season, comfortably mid table Championship this season?
I see your point but it wasn't too long ago 15th place and only 60 points in the Championship would be deemed as failure. However the squad is full of young players eager to succeed rather than Premiership has beens and other clubs cast offs. Rovers finished 14 points off the play offs and that over a season is nothing. We will see who comes into the club and those who make way. Get that right and who knows...

It’s been a good season, you can’t see it as anything but that in my opinion. Overall we’ve looked more than comfortable competing at this level, we’ve excelled against some of the best sides and also been found wanting at times.

The game today encapsulated the season in some respects. We looked fine and evenly matched against a good side. Had a spell where we were all over the place. Conceded sloppy goals from crosses into our box. But then showed our better with a dominant second half display with some real quality on the ball.

Was Nyambe on the bench? One thing we found out is that although Travis is a great central midfielder, he's no right back! Swansea's second goal was abysmal, not one, but two unmarked attackers on the edge of the area. Who were Lenihan and Williams marking and where was Evans?
After seemingly short of match practice, Davenport came more and more into the game and treated us to a rare sight at Ewood - a thunderbolt from outside the area which the Swansea goalkeeper did well to save.
It was Conway's 200th appearance and one got the feeling that's why he was brought on - probably the last time we'll see him, a good servant to the club over the years.
Not quite sure how Brad got mom over Rothwell, our most influential player
I still marvel at how young our team is -this augurs well for next year if we can make a couple of defensive signings to back them up.
We may be saying good bye to Smallwood, Conway,Gladwin, possibly Bennett,Hart, Samuel and one of the goalkeepers. At the end Mowbray, and Graham said a few words on the mike, but not Mulgrew which I thought a bit strange.
A good match to watch, this team is still in embryo stage, really looking forward to next season, and thank you Venkies for freezing the ticket prices.

Nyambe was not on the bench.

I’m guessing TM will go youth next season, with a couple of well-placed transfers/frees with experience. I tend to agree Conway has played his last game. I will miss him, particularly, the player he was, ‘14-‘16. All those others y’all named, I feel sure won’t be around next season.

I feel good where we finished; at the start of the season, I thought top half, out of playoff places. So, this wasn’t bad at all. I like our core, add to that a couple of solid backs in the Duffy/Marshall mold, & a creative MF ala, Cairney, and we’re in business for next season.

BTW, my trip to England is Sept 15-25... I’m already excited about seeing the schedule, & my trip to Ewood. It will be here before we know it!

Wonder if Rovers are looking at any players from relegated teams... anybody on Bolton or Ipswich we’d want, on the cheap/freebie?

Tony Mowbray seems to have at least one target currently playing in mainland Europe. He has recently been to see 'talent' in Europe and is said to be inquiring over the availability. No names as yet. I would not think anyone will be fighting over any players from any of the championships relegated clubs.

I don’t know why we’d ignore players from a relegated team if they were the right player. A shit team can still contain gems. After all, we were relegated with Mulgrew, Conway, Graham, Lenihan, Travis, etc... all on the books.

Agreed. Relegated sides can still have decent players. For example I’d still think Nsiala would be an upgrade on Smallwood for example who I don’t think will be with us next season.

Although Davenport did okay yesterday so in some ways having him and Samuel will feel like 2 new additions next season already.
