Walton
Nyambe
Lenihan
Mulgrew (hopefully Adarabioyo if he signs)
Bell
Travis
Johnson
Chapman
Dack
Rothwell
Gallagher

At least that's what I'd like to see...

Is downing still a winger? I just assumed he would probably play in a deeper central role these days?

Personally I'd like better options for the RB/LB positions but we don't have that luxury

Yeah to be fair I had a quick rethink and stuck Rothwell in his place.

Didn't Downing play on the wing in a friendly? Barrow I think?? :yeahright:

It's the forward line that has so many options. If we do get a CB in the partner Lenihan then the back 7 for me picks itself currently with Walton, Bennett, Lenihan, ?, Bell then Johnson and Travis in midfield.

Dack is certainly a starter for the other 4 positions and I'd be hard pressed to not be starting Rothwell and Armstrong. Downing needs to earn his place for me. Then it's up for grabs who wants to be top dog of the strikers. We know what we get from Graham but Gallagher and Brereton are both well capable of taking that spot.

The options going forward are very exciting. We definitely need more strength in depth at the back. I'd like to think having Travis and Johnson in midfield would ease the pressure on our back line anyway. Another CB is crucial. I'd like to see a additions in the fullback areas but I doubt that will happen.

Having said that, if we get the kid from City it makes for a successful transfer window IMO.

I think Bennett and Nyambe is decent cover at RB. I think Bell is better than people give him credit for and there is Hart too.

With what we have currently I would prefer Nyambe and Bell in those positions. For me, we are in a better position than this time last season 'if' we sign a CB and experienced keeper.

Shame we don't seem to be in for either of the Southampton 'keepers that appear to be available. A loan deal for Forster or McCarthy would be nice.

Opening game i’m Going for a hot summers day. Going for a possession based line up. Then last 30 mins bringing on the pace of Armstrong and Brereton.

Gone with Bennett over Nyambe as if we need to push for a winner and Johnson gets tired then Bennett can move into midfield. Johnson becoming the sit deep midfielder.

Armstrong on for Downing
Gallagher on for Rothwell
Brereton on for Graham

———————————-Walton——————————————-

Bennett———-Lenihan————Mulgrew——-Bell———

Rothwell———-Travis———Johnson————Downing—

———————————-Dack———————————————-

———————————————Graham——————————-

But it will all be a waste of time if Mowbray continues his love affair with Evans

Yeah I was thinking this, it’s nice to imagine the midfield with Travis, Johnson and Rothwell but at the end of the day we’ll still get at least one of Evans or Smallwood

Have the squad numbers been announced? Perhaps if they left it until Saturday it would boost the sale of programmes.

Don't think so... new signings on the website appear to be numberless.
