At this point, we just need wins. Although watching that garbage of a Rotherham match was pretty rough.

My in-laws leave in the morning; I will have coffee ready for them, watching Palace/Liverpool, while my father-in-law gripes, “offsides! Offsides! That’s all they do, is blow offsides!”
Standard Gripe #2 is, “they play 90 minutes, to tie 0-0. Harrumph!!!”

Then he leaves. He fixed stuff at my house while he was here, I can live with it. ;)

Some of the greatest games are 0-0. Then you get basketball with 100s of points and.... it's so dull.

Absolutely. I love great defending, so I greatly admire a well-earned 0-0.

I quite like our midfield. But, Johnson in central defense, I don’t think we will get a 0-0 result today, lol

Stoke up at half time, 1-0. Possession doesn't win games, but right now we do have some good passing play. Stoke do have some really good defense and appear hard to break down. I assume some adjustments will be made to address the passing.

67% possession, 0 shots on goal.

I don’t really understood the possession thing, when it doesn’t lead to scoring opportunities. We were already behind 1-0 when we started to get possession.

Big problem is a lot of that possession comes from back passes and centreback play. It's not really from midfielders probing.

It's a delicate question really, possession or counter attack. A prime example to look at would be Liverpool (possession based) and Spurs (counter-attacking).

Teams should only play possession based football if they know they have the quality to punish the other team... which is why you never see Allardyce et al. do it. Having said that, a good counter attacking team (look at Atletico Madrid rather than Stoke) will quite literally suck the opposing team into their final third and wait for a mistake.

So a lot of our 'possession' is misleading; it is Stoke letting us have the ball because they know we're unlikely to punish them.

Injuries to Wharton, Williams and Ayala taking their toll. We appear to only attack with menace on the right hand side with Elliott and Nyambe. Douglas and Gallagher just don't operate together well. I'd be happy for Dolan, Butterworth or Downing to get a start on the left wing on Boxing Day along with Bell.
Was so looking forward to going to Ewood Park next week, will I ever be able to use my season ticket to see a live match?
