Blackburn Rovers vs West Brom, Saturday 21st August, KO 3pm

Post by Gibbon » Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:54 am

A massive test for the squad this weekend, West Brom were surely one of the promotion favourites coming into this season and their form so far has supported that.

With our (admittedly young and depleted) squad showing some real grit we have an opportunity here to put a marker down.

A good test after our promising start. I know it's very early but I think WBA and Fulham will be runaway automatics this season so no shame if we do lose.

Hopefully another spirited performance and see what happens.

Having the smaller squad means we have a more consistent starting XI. Even if we won last year there would still be rotation, but tomorrow we’re likely to see the same team as at Forrest which is the type of stability this group needs.

Having said that, Chapman was positive when he came on and Dolan hasn’t hit the ground running (playing through the centre doesn’t help) so we could see a 3-5-2.

West Brom look strong so we’ll need to keep up the energy levels to nullify their quality.

Seems to have a much better conversion rate than that Brereton lad had.

Not sure his run wouldn’t have been offside if it weren’t for the goalkeeper’s mistake? 🤔

Still, a promising display against tough opposition. We definitely need a couple more quality signings though.

Lost to one of the top sides so not unexpected. Ismael teams are just horrible to play against and so it proved again.

Bit of shame that we somewhat gifted the 2 goals at really poor times in the game but no complaints about the result.

Breo positive again Clarkson looks quite promising.

They were such a horrible team to play against. I wasn't that impressed by them either for a team that are supposed to be walking the league.

Hopefully we work on our concentration now after giving away those two stupid goals.
