Blackburn Rovers v Hull City, Tues 14th September 2021, KO 19.45

Post by Gibbon » Tue Sep 14, 2021 12:07 pm

As Thor is busy doing vital maintenance on his trowel collection*, I’m setting this up with my usual crappy effort of a poll.

*guess

I have this down as a home win with a Gallagher winner deflected off a pigeon.

First it's a garden rake collection thank you very much.

Second, they aren't going to maintain themselves.

"Highway to Hull"? Or "The Road to Hull" or "Bat Out of Hull"...

It sounds like Khadra and Butterworth changed the game. Excellent stuff.

If not for Luton’s 98th minute equaliser, we’d be 1 point off the top!

I wish to send Poveda back to Leeds. Khadra is all we need.

Khadra looked great!

Pleased that Butterworth is getting minutes and like how much tenacity and aggression he brings, although thought he was a little selfish in wanting to score on his birthday instead of laying on others as at 3-0 the game would really have been dead.

A welcome clean sheet and despite losing Armstrong we have been scoring consistently and not blanked in any of the opening 7 league fixtures. Gally and Brereton are getting the goals but they're also being shared around the side and we've started scoring from set pieces again, another last night, something we failed to do most of last season.

Exactly what Tony has been asking for, goals from everywhere instead of one source. I think it will prove that Arma was limiting Tony tactically.

Brereton Diaz was playing Arma’s old role, so

We clearly want the rest of the players to chip in with goals, but if you have a shit hot goalscorer up front, you make use of him as much as you can.

I think the rest of the team may well feel that with Armstrong gone they have more reason to try themselves rather than try to play BD in, but that’s about getting them to make the right decisions at key moments and have confidence in their own abilities.
