I know we need to win it for our ongoing financial health, but I otherwise prefer it to the Premier League. It's just so open.

It is more competitive and with something to actually play for. If you can let go of the inherent sense of entitlement to success all football fans have, it's got to be better than just competing to not be in the bottom three each year.

But maybe I'm just saying that to mitigate the pain.

I was having that discussion with an Everton fan a few days ago. Funnily enough he still wasn't keen on relegation.

It is the best league, but it's a shame the financial gaps are appearing and making a difference. The amount spent by the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth compared to those down the bottom end makes your eyes water.

It's about time the parachute payments from the Premier League were sorted out to level things up, teams are almost being rewarded for failure and relegation and given an unfair advantage over the other clubs struggling to get out of the league.

It's a bit awks given you may also have players on contracts on PL wages but without the income any more - and players don't want to sign a contract that cuts their wages if the club goes down, why would they.

I agree totally that the payments are broken - it needs a better solution to the whole approach though. If you can't afford a player in the Championship then you shouldn't be able to play them ultimately but you don't want to put clubs into financial difficulty.
