I've been open to some more experienced players coming in like Downing and Johnson. But personally drawing a line at Charlie Adam it's got a Ethuhu/Murphy feel to it and he shouldn't be getting games ahead of Travis/Davenport.

Looks like no Grant Hanley as he looks to stay at Norwich. However Alan Lying Bastard Noxin has been throwing shit in the air by naming any former Rovers defender, as Scott Dann is being linked with us.
How does that twat still have a job? Has he ever had a story that wasn't completely rubbish?

I think he got the Bradley Johnson rumors right, so 1% of the time, he is right all the time.

Gallagher & Reed have both been left out of the Southampton pre-season training squad - good news for us if the rumours are true that we're after either of them.

Jacob Butterfield (Derby) is training with the Rovers squad, as is Charlie Adam (who played vs Barrow and was apparently the best player on the pitch). Not sure we need yet another central midfielder, but signing either of them would surely mean the end of either Evans' or Smallwood's stay.

We should 100% be after Reed.

I just hope Reed would be willing to come here permanently. Problem with getting both Gallagher and Reed would be transfer fees and wages. Obviously both would be asking for a lot.

In other news, Rovers announced a new signing, 22 year old Tom White from Gateshead.

And White said “massive” 3 times, re: Blackburn Rovers. You can’t get more massive than that, until somebody says massive four times

Agreed, but have to imagine the lad wants to and deserves to test himself in the premier league. Would love to have him on a permanent but dont see it happening.

Another one to add to the Massive list. Although he may have just summoned Beetlejuice.

I'd rather sign Reed than Charlie Adams.

I'm sure everyone and their mother (except Charlie Adam's) would want to sign Harrison Reed instead of Adam.

Indeed. We also need to sign a goalkeeper fairly sharpish and a defender or two instead of more 30+ midfielders.

Tony Mowbray may seem inactive in pursuit of transfer targets but without the funding other clubs appear to have he will have to play a waiting game. There is a month before the transfer window closes so there is still plenty of time. Not that you want to bring in players just before the season starts. Things could be a lot worse for exanple if you are a Newcastle fan or even worse a Bolton fan who if you look at their current playing staff on their website makes scary viewing.

I would consider Rovers fairly competent in running the club now. I realize that what Venky's said is true, we need to sell before we buy. However, Raya has been sold and they should have foreseen this event.

It's my best guess that they are weighing up options of where to spend the money and how to ask for the budget to be stretched in that direction. Do you depend on Leutwiler and youngsters for the season while getting upgrades like Reed and/or Gallagher, or do you upgrade the goalkeeper position and hope there is something left over?
