I've nothing against Jeffers, when I've seen him play in the flesh he's looked a good footballer. However, his goalscoring confidence is ruined after generating such a pitiful tally over the last four years or so and the Premiership isn't the place to give somebody game time to sort out their mental issues.

It's a real shame that Ipswich won't take him but at least it's not because we asked for too much money, as I was worried about.

Jeffers to Wednesday?

That article also says Ipswich pulled out of the deal because Jeffers wanted £10k a week... think that confirms that he's at the bottom end of our salary structure.

Ha, Patrick Kluivert must really have deteriorated if it turns out that his trial with Wednesday is unsuccessful and they sign Jeffers instead! I hope that is the case though just so we get this dead wood off our books, because £10K a week is still a substantial amount of money to waste on a reserve team player.

But he can't be on anything like £10,000 a week with us, as Ipswich said they were offering more than us yet weren't even prepared to negotiate once they heard how much he wanted.

Still, fingers crossed someone takes him, he's no longer in Hughes' plans...

Jeffers is on a pay-as-you-play deal. Mark Hughes said so at the beginning of last season. I bet he deal is something like £2k per week plus £5k for every apperance

There are those who don't believe Hughes, and think Jeffers was asking for astronomical wages to join Ipswich. Of course £1/2m a year is unreal to us, but maybe not in football.

When you think that the average premiership salary for 2005-6 season was about £750k (£14500 a week) and is no apparently approaching £1mil (19000 a week) 10k a week for Jeffers in the championship does seem a little steep, having said that, he could after a few months start looking worth it if he can bang the goals in.

What's the average salary for a starting striker in the PL?

The Mirror and the Lancashire Evening Post both suggest we'll get £600,000 for him.

Rovers have confirmed he's in talks with Wednesday, but the deal is not near completion yet. (LET)

The stumbling block appears to be that Jeffers will only move if they change their nickname from the 'Owls' to the much more sensible the 'Kestrels'. Allegedly...

Hi guys, I'm new here but I've posted some info elsewhere, so I won't bore you with that again. Brian Laws at Wednesday seems to be making some sense talking about Jeffers, hope the player can be convinced likewise...
