\"nicko\" on brfcs has said that where gonna move in for a big name striker in January, and he wont tell who but its been narrowed down to Adriano or Defoe by some of the other members and he confirmed its one of the two,

Adriano = :rofl: :roll:
Defoe = seriously overated :wanker:

So it's the end for Rigters I suppose.

Big name strikers cost big money and I can't see us spending over £5m on one player. Hughes might have one of his masterstrokes up his sleeve but I can't think of any big names who would be on the cheap.

By the way Watty, I agree. Defoe is definitely overrated. Doesn't really add much to games although has a decent scoring record.

Adriano or Anelka?...here??.... :rofl: :rofl:

Rumours today have it that Sunderland may be after Steve Sidwell in January for 5 million. Don't know how much truth there is in him being unsettled, but he's exactly the sort of player we need really.

I'd hope we'd stand a better chance of signing him than most clubs who'd be after him. :scratch:

Now that one's interesting.

He's not exactly set the world alight at Chelsea, but i wouldn't blame it on him particularly - In fact, the only thing i would accuse him of is a stupid move to one of the top clubs at a key point in his learning curve.

I think he'd be a perfect addition to our squad in all honesty, and would be half tempted to look at Huddlestone as well - Potential for a long term midfield partnership?

I've always liked Sidwell since he was at Arsenal.

You're right, stupid to go to Chelsea really. Pretty obvious he wasn't gonna get a real look-in. He looks like he could be good in a few years when he's had a couple of full Prem seasons. Huddlestone and him would definitely make a good pairing.

There are a lot of links between Sunderland and Jason Roberts.

Saw that one earlier as well. I seem to remember Roberts saying that if he was to move then it would be close to London to be near his "Jason Roberts Spasticated People's Foundation" or whatever it is (was that too controversial?)

I doubt he'd move further north than Blackburn.

Nicko says Roberts want out and Sunderland want him.

We need a fast striker so when Benni orRoque get subbed off we can strectch knackered defenders with pace any ideas?

I nominate for 2 million Rob Earnshaw, dont laugh.

Matt Derbyshire aint exactly slow is he. I think we need a fast CM, someone who can run with the ball at pace and strech defences on the counter attack

How has he not proven himself? When he got a run in the team last year he looked very promising, but hasnt really had a chance since Santa came.

If Reid gets it back and starts doing that then yes, but another option is always good
