Not been confirmed by any reliable sources yet, as far as I'm aware. Don't wanna get my hopes up just yet.

They've only offered it to him, it doesn't say he's accepted it.

Fucking hell, I'm being as pedantic as blackbat. :-o

Seems a bit odd. An apparently heavily in-debt board offering £3million to ask a man who is rumored to be interested in other clubs to leave.

He still hasn't been sacked... ;)

Joe - the only thing that surprises me is that it's taken so long. Liverpool should have kicked him out last autumn, and they certainly should have done it as soon as the season ended. Whatever their financial situation, I don't think they could risk waiting for someone else taking him off them - they may miss out on getting their replacement, or the new guy won't have time to prepare for next season. Or worst of all, Benitez might not go anywhere...

Having seen the reports that it would cost £16million to sack him, the offer of £3million to pay him off seems a little more reasonable now. Now they just look stupid for giving the guy a huge contract only last summer.

I keep thinking one day football clubs will realise how stupid the contracts they offer are. But they're still preoccupied with the idea that if they don't offer the unbelievably brilliant terms, someone else will. So for now, we have to make do with laughing at Liverpool and groaning about how much Ince cost us.
