i'd put a bet on glen johnson costing us a victory or two, he just cant defend.
Barry won't be fit in time to play against the US and I'd go with Carragher at RB against the likes of Spain and Brazil.

Johnson had a good game defensively against Mexico. I've thought he looked suspect in the past, but maybe he's improving.

I still think it's a shame Shawcross got left out altogether, he's a great defender and a real threat on corners.

Still can't understand why anyone would drop Dawson or Upson in favour of King, who looked slow and imobile defensively against poor opposition. Plus the fact he can't play two games in quick succession.

And Warnock should be dropped instead of Baines who's looked steady everytime he's played.

Gary Cahill and Ryan Shawcross would have made the squad ahead of all three if it was up to me. And what happened to Phil Jagielka?

Dawson is uncapped and wasn't used at all in the friendlies. Capello chose to take a look at King instead of blooding his Spurs team mate. That suggests to me that King is ahead of Dawson in the manager's plans. However, I think Upson is a certainty to go, as he's been the first choice back up for Ferdinand and Terry for some time now.

I think you're right King probably was in Capello's plans ahead of Dawson, although I wouldn't be surprised if he'd played his way out of contention.

But then Dawson still wasn't given a try in the second game to see if he was the alternative? If he had any chance of making the squad, surely he'd have been given that first cap, just to get it out the way with?

You're probably right. Very odd.

What, that you think I'm right? :D I'm sure it must have happened before. Once, maybe. If Sven was still in charge, I wouldn't rule out Dawson getting picked - after all, he took Walcott with him without even seeing him play. But I get the impression Capello is taking the job a little more seriously.

:D

Don't be daft, I'm sure you've been right about things more than once before. Possibly as many as 3 or 4 times.

I wasn't aware he was ever wrong, or at least ever admitted to being so?

Probably, but you probably thought I was wrong on 3 of those occasions...
