Does anyone know where i can get a decent quote from? Just been on Norwich Union and they want over 2k and thats as me down as 3rd driver. Its absolute bullshit. I know theres a lot of boy racers out there but the majority are gettin punished for a minority. :wanker:

Stay well clear of Norwich Union, they're tossers...

Direct Line were good when I was still under the magic 25.

I've been with the AA for the past 2 years, but I'm going to start searching again over the next week or so as I've got to renew myself soon.

Try the websites that are advertised on the telly, see what they come up with.

Thing is putting me on a policy adds another £700 on it. For my dad as policy holder and my sister as a named driver its £800 with CIS, then £1500 when i get added. Its a fuckin joke.

Thats on a 1.1litre engine as well, not exactly huge

I've been on elephant.com for the past 4 years or so.

I'm under 25 and last year added my learner-driver girlfriend to the policy for only about £50 quid more.

Not sure about the cost overall but it's well under £1000. nearer £500? (guess).

I drive a punto.

I remember I once saved £125 by telling the insurers I still lived at my parent's address, rather than where I was living - and when my car was broken into, I simply said I was only staying overnight at a friend's...

I've also experimented on the websites to see what happens if you give different details to them.

The cheapest I found was Churchill.com. Some places took the piss and were asking for £500 to £1000 more than them. With Churchill the insurance is cheaper if you say you are a student. I was at the time, but I haven't told them yet that I finished college 2 years ago.

Quinn Direct or Liverpool Victoria are normally quite good for younger drivers

I'm on Liverpool Victoria.

If its your parents car, try the NFU.

True, but they stiff you for more if you're under 25...

I'm 18, I'm an added driver on my dad policy for my Pugeot 106.

It's about £700 a year with More Than. Last year it was about the same with the AA but this year they sent me a renewal quote of £1700! So I told them to f off and went to More Than

A bloke at work has an N plate Audi A4, 160,000 odd miles. He wanted to go third party on it but More Than (his then insurer) refused. they said they wouldnt as his car was worth £8000    Bet they wouldnt have paid that out if he had to claim, pretty sure they would then revalue it to a few hundred pounds. He has now move away from
More Than.
