Re: Stewart 'I'm Not Paul' Downing
Nothing to lose on a one year deal and no fee...only the wages. Rovers on the whole have not done wellof late with players in the latter years of playing. Only Danny Graham of the current crop stands out but before that we had Peter Whittingham, Dickson Etuhu, Danny Murphy who were all underwhelming. You do sometimes get a good feeling about a player. Stewart Downing comes with a good pedigree and has played for several clubs for which all he has served well. I think twelve months from now Rovers could be offering Stewart Downing another contract unless we are in the premier league of course!

Yeah, this is good, imo... Downing, in a player/coach/mentor role, I think that’s good for the club. One year deal, oh yeah, I’m good with this.
Re: Stewart 'I'm Not Paul' Downing
Thought about this transfer some more and actually now think it could be quite a good signing. Still feels a little bit like for like with Conway but I think Downing has probably got a better range of passing, better dribbling with the ball and always seems to have scored plenty of goals from outside the box with both feet although he is left footed. Strike me as being a player with a really good attitude and work ethic too so think he should fit in well, just don't want him to be used at the expense of Armstrong or Rothwell as wide attackers, but interesting to see how he fits into the team.

Guess who's back?!?!?
Re: Stewart 'I'm Not Paul' Downing
Guess he didn't get a better offer than the 12 months we offered in July.
Re: Stewart 'I'm Not Paul' Downing
Good news, he can go straight in at LB tomorrow

Re: Stewart 'I'm Not Paul' Downing
I'd try Brereton at LB. He's quick and good at flattening people.

Great player. I wish we’d got him when we were linked after Duff left.
Although then we probably wouldn’t have seen Pedersen.
