TV shows that are ace
TV shows that are ace
I thought we might need a general telly thread in the same vein as our general music and films threads.
To begin, Boardwalk Empire looks like it might be good. Written by one of the writers of The Sopranos (which was indeed ace) and directed by Martin Scorcese, it's "a drama about wiseguys in 1920s Atlantic City".
Trailer here.

I really wanna watch The Pacific, created by the same people who made Band of Brothers, but with a fresh cast and storyline. Will be well worth a watch, and think it may have started this weekend.
I'm also rewatching The Wire at the moment, and in my opinion its the single best program ever made

Re: TV shows that are ace
Someone just lent me the first series of Breaking Bad, which looks rather good.
Other than that, I'm in the middle of the second season of Lost, and STILL find almost all the characters hideously irritating...and the writing's so terrible. Why does everyone keep telling me to keep watching 'because it get's better?'. IT'S FUCKING ALMOST DEFINITLY NOT GOING TO!
If I could starp that Sawyer and that Locke guy together and throw sticks of unstable dynamite at them I would.
Last Woman Standing's on tonight - that's always good for a laugh.

Stop watching Lost. It definitely doesn't get any better...Last Man Standing was one of the finest BBC programmes last year. Truly original, so I imagine that this one is similarly good.
Re: TV shows that are ace
I stuck with Lost, i found series 2/3 the low point but I too think it gets better after there.

Indeed it was, but that's not a high bar of quality. :scratch:joep89 wrote:Last Man Standing was one of the finest BBC programmes last year. Truly original, so I imagine that this one is similarly good.

I liked the UK Version better. I also think The Inbetweeners and Shameless are immense.Savory wrote:The Office (American Workplace)

I also like Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps. It's not as good without Jonny Keogh(Ralf Little), but it's still good.

Millsy, thats the worst programme ever to grace TV in my opinionroversmillsy wrote:I also like Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps. It's not as good without Jonny Keogh(Ralf Little), but it's still good.

If you get a chance, get onto Storm Chasers, Deadliest Catch, Banged Up Abroad, Bear Grylls and all those other types on the Discovery/Nat Geo channels, more amazin in HD.

I've watched Deadliest Catch and thought it was fair good. My favourite porgrammes on Discovery/Nat Geo are Megastructures, How is it made, Air Crash Investigation and Seconds from disaster.Savory wrote:If you get a chance, get onto Storm Chasers, Deadliest Catch, Banged Up Abroad, Bear Grylls and all those other types on the Discovery/Nat Geo channels, more amazin in HD.

Bear Grylls is a fake and Banged Up Abroad is irritating. The other two just bore me.Savory wrote:Millsy, thats the worst programme ever to grace TV in my opinionroversmillsy wrote:I also like Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps. The new program Tropic of Cancer is pretty good. Last Woman Standing, The Bill, Eastenders, Extreme Fishing with Robson Green and IACGMOOH or some other reality TV program are good watches
