Wow just reading back over the last page of the last topic of the same name! We need to keep this one. About transfers, rumours and Venky's plans of signing some players coming together in the next week or so.

Looks like Carlton Cole will be going to Stoke according to www.skysports.com. Remember when Liverpool and a few other big teams wanted him? Glad we didn't attempt to sign him!
Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery plus banality

Let's keep this about Transfers. There is a Steve Kean topic in the Roverstalk part of the forum.
Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery plus banality
Hey, first time posting in these forums, long time reader.
A member of my family is really good friends with the president and his wife of the club, and they told us last week that the reason for the lack of transfers is due to the Venky's clearing out the club internally atm, people are all fighting for their jobs...
Anyways, I do agree that we need a big name striker, we should focus on attracting a big fish small pond player who is looking to move to the prem, such as Lucas Barrios, Sow, Muniain or alternatively loan in another player, Macheda or Kerrison. We do need to bolster the english aspect of the team and hargreaves would be too much of an expensive gamble, we should look to players like Cairney, or Cleverley. Onuoha would be a class pairing with samba, because Onuoha has the pace, watching him play he can keep pace with most strikers and isn't shy of pushing forward, much like P.Jones.

Yet you answer back with another post about our managers on this topic?FFP83 wrote: your really quite thick arent you? no one wants you to talk about steve kean on this thread hence the last one getting locked.

ON a different note, the rumour that Benfica had beaten us to Witsel seems to be bull. He hasn't signed yet and we're going head to head with Benfica for him apparently.

On the manager subject, can y'all just agree to disagree on a different thread?
I know we're all waiting around for the chicken farmers to give kean the money to make some blockbuster signings, but he actually did quite a job during the January window. I don't know if anyone was looking at the reserves side's results down the stretch, but Ruben Rochina was producing goals against stiff competition like mad. I think the kid is a future star.... that we'll probably sell to united for too little in a few years, but signing players from Barcelona's B-side sounds like great tactics to me! The talk on Formica is all positive too! I wonder if we'll finally get to see him play in the Barclay's Asian cup?? FSC is televising all 4 games i think!
.... you know you're going through football withdrawal when the womens world cup and the barclays asian cup are highlights of your week.

i agree that its probably between us and benfica and nothing is for certain yet, lets hope the lure of the premiership swings it our way? It would be a very good signing in my opinion, better than the likes of beckham and ronaldinho for our club, glad kean and venkys are showing some transfer market savvy (if this is true)
Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery plus banality
yep saw rochina vs everton and he looked absolute class!!! now formica should be fit im looking forward to them both having an impact this season!!!Blackburngiff wrote:On the manager subject, can y'all just agree to disagree on a different thread?

Yeah he looked good Vs Everton but i thought they sussed him out after a while and he wasnt as effective after they did.FFP83 wrote:yep saw rochina vs everton and he looked absolute class!!! now formica should be fit im looking forward to them both having an impact this season!!!Blackburngiff wrote:On the manager subject, can y'all just agree to disagree on a different thread?

Good experience for the lad and if he can be abit less cocky on the ball and use it more often he has the potential to be world class.
Its exciting we have a player with so much potential!!

When you say president and his wife, who exactly do you mean, I'm losing track of the structure of the club.

Yeh but the Venkey's want a player who will perform now, not a future star, this is what could land Kean in hot water. I heard we might be interested in Vossen, but I only heard it by word of mouth... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jelle_Vossen
EDIT:
The president at the moment is K.C. Lee.

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery plus banality
i agree that the draw of the premiership does work in our favor when trying to sign this fella from standard. however.... lately it seems like benfica has become a prep program for future premier league or la liga players: ramirez, david luiz, coentrao, di maria, etc.
i'm trying to remember who was the last big player to jump from standard liege to the premier league. there's one stuck in my head, but im having trouble narrowing it down.
