I was quite shocked to see Hughes at 20-1, would of expected higher odds. The only way he would be sacked is if something went dramatically wrong

Doesn't really make a lot of sense to me to suggest the newest appointments will be the first to get the chop - that whole article seems to suggest that Dowie's dismissal was the norm, when it really took everyone by surprise.

Allardyce is a candidate, because something isn't right at Newcastle. But I think Benitez and Mourinho will be under instant pressure if they have bad starts to the season, and Southgate will find it tough.

I think it's a rating out of 10, not odds.

No i had a look at the odds the other day. Hughes was at 20-1

Agree with RTT, Benitez will definitly be under pressure this season, and hopefully he will be out of the door. Dunno what it is, theres just something i dont like about him.

Not too sure about Mourinho, i think his job is definitly under threat, but i dont think he would get the boot till next summer

What about Wenger? I personally would have shipped him out after Henry and Ljunberg left. A fresh start is exactly what they need, not a manager who is probably off to Real Madrid next summer. If Arsenal lose at Ewood and then suffer a few further bad results he's gone in my book.

The problem Arsenal have is that their squad is built up around the Wenger way of doing things (foreign, young). It will be hard for someone else to go there and doing anything without heavy investment to turn the club to the new managers appraoch.

If I was running Arsenal I would be trying as hard as possible to keep Wenger there as with him they have a chance to stay top four, without him they be far more likely to drop out the top 4 and lose players like Fabregas who have benefited from the Wenger appraoch, especially if Wenger moves to a club with the resources to buy these players.

Arsenal have been trophy-less for the past two seasons and their league form has been just about good enough to scrape the Champions League. Football is a results-driven business and people can use the "blooding the youngsters" excuse as much as they want, but if a third season of indifferent football beckons then he cannot stay on.

I don't dislike Wenger, anybody who can make a team unbeaten for a whole Premiership season is obviously gifted. However, I just feel his latest batch of youngsters contain only one truly world-class player (i.e. Fabregas) whereas the last generation spawned Henry, Vieira, Ljunberg e.t.c. and his signings haven't been inspired. It would be best for himself and Arsenal if he moved on in my book. Capello is available after all!

And its not just the squad. I went on a stadium tour of the emirates (gf's little brother is an arsenal fan), and things like the shape of the changing rooms and layout of the press conference room was all done to Wenger's spec.

He's been there so long, and influenced so much it would be one hell of a wrench if they had to sack him.

Aye, I'm quite surprised that Wenger's been in his job for as long as he has, on the past few season's poor league showings.

First up for sackage this year will be Allardyce though; as RTT says, there's something clearly not right at Newcastle, and I think it will take less of a poor spell from them for him to be sacked than for any other club.
