Well Colombia were dirty as and the ref did little about it. Could easily have sent off a few players.

Overall we played well but lacked a bit of cutting edge up front. And when we broughtu Dier on just went backwards (lets not talk about the Walker lapse).

As for the penalties, they were all well struck, Henderson could perhaps have been a bit less obvious but it was still a good save; and an excellent save from Pickford won it us.

Couldn’t believe we actually won on penalties, especially after Ospina made an excellent save for Henderson’s.

There’s a lot to like about Southgate and this team and how they go about things. It’s just so pleasing to watch a young team play with a confidence and style we’ve not really seen from England in the past. There’s still plenty of room for improvement but we’re heading in a good direction. I’d still like to see Rashford start ahead of Sterling at the moment and I thought Southgate got it wrong initially bringing Dier on for Ali instead of Loftus-Cheek.

We were the better side I thought and dealt with a lot of physicality and underhand tactics from Colombia. That first half of extra time it looked at though they were struggling mentally having conceded so late but that final 15 minutes they really came back and regained their confidence instead of crumbling.

Amazing what happens when you get some sports psychologists in to work with the players and all practice penalties everyday at a tournament...

I'd like to know what neutrals and their own fans think of Colombia's antics. If England behaved like that I'd be suggesting they're not fit to represent the nation.

We were the better side over 90 minutes but didn't threaten enough. Not sure what it is about Kane that makes defenders so amorous towards him but it's working in our favour. The equaliser was a sucker punch. And then we seemed to be running through sand for extra time. Penalties were hell to watch, I said to my wife Henderson was going to miss and he did, but then the last Colombian also looked terrified and he missed too. Strangely feels better than winning properly. We've broken the shootout curse, Kane's still top scorer, and we're 3 games and a bit of luck from winning the competiton. But last night showed it's far from easy.

I think the whole country thought the same though - it was a much better penalty than I expected. It may not even have been a Henderson thing, just the inevitability of us trying to screw it up.

He hit it better than I expected, but was so obvious which way he was going. Still a good save though. Trippier's response to them missing was also excellent.

Overall a very good set of penalties, just hope we can replicate should we need to.

Yep, I said the same and the 30 drunk people my wife watched it with (office football party), all started shouting at the screen when he stepped forward.

Well it seems there's a lot of sour grapes out there. Falcao thinks the over-lenient ref was biased against them, and Maradona reckons the attempted rape of Kane was a foul the other way. Other strange ideas include Maguire needing a yellow card for saying he wasn't fouled, Colombia's goal should have stood when there was two balls on the pitch and the best, England should be disqualifed for bringing on a 4th sub because they hadn't used 3 during normal time.
