House buying
Dickheads that accepted an offer from us on their house decided today they aren't selling after all.
Don't stick your house on the market if you don't want to sell it! Fucktards.

Re: House buying
I was of much the same opinion towards arseholes in the housing market until I became one this year.
We had a below asking price offer accepted on a house that we fell in love with, only for our circumstances to do a 180 degree turn a few weeks later. Suddenly it was a very bad idea to be buying a house in the area we had been looking at, so we had to apologetically withdraw the offer, which left the sellers in a huge mess regarding their next purchase.
I felt like a complete shit, but it was exactly the right decision, and was completely due to unforseeable circumstances beyond our control.
I empathise completely with how stressed and upset you must be feeling, but from the 'I'm a cunt' side, I'd have to say that sometimes these things are unavoidable.
Of course, they could just be wankers.
I hope you find summat even better soon.

They're just wankers. Circumstances changing when you're buying is one thing, but deciding you don't want to sell anymore, despite making a ridiculous profit, is because you're a twat.
I'm firmly convinced they decided to sell cause they saw how much houses in their area were going for so were going to cash in. Then when it actually came to it, decided to be flaky.

Re: House buying
Well fair enough then.
Re: House buying
In the village I used to live in people frequently listed their houses just to see how much money they were worth.... As in, it's not enough for an estate agent to tell you how much... You need to get a few offers first to make sure and then delist.
Half the viewings were from their neighbours just snooping inside the house as well. It's a weird old world.

Re: House buying
I'm considering posting a letter through their neighbour's letter box asking if they'd consider selling, then, as I know there's an unused shared access through their garden, starting to make use of that as my front door.....

Re: House buying
The arrival of ZWARTT has lead us to look for a bigger home for our family - we had an offer accepted just before Christmas but have been waiting for 4 weeks for the draft contract to come through from the sellers' solicitor. Initially a skiing holiday was blamed for the delay, but now we're going round in circles with the sellers' solicitor telling the estate agent they have the documents they need, and my solicitor that they haven't.
Meanwhile, we needed to provide our landlord's details for our mortgage application. Our landlord has taken that as a cue to line up another tenant to move in on 1st April, and is now pushing us to give a moving out date.

Oh man, if you have a housebuying experience that isn't like fighting a sack full of crabs then I'd be surprised. One of the most stressful undertakings I've ever experienced, and I've done it 3 times. It's worse when you're trying to sell too. Good luck mate.
Re: House buying
I think the remortgage process is as bad as buying the bloody thing in the first place. I feel like I'm moving house every 5 years.

12 months on variable rate? That's got to have cost you.

Re: House buying
Buying a new build was a doddle.
The story this morning is that the sellers' solicitors did have the forms, but some weren't completed correctly and some have now been lost. So they sent them out again, but only after we chased last night.

Re: House buying
Yup, not too bad initially, hence me not rushing to sort it last year, but there appear to be some decent rates around now to switch to. Not sure whether I'm liking the look of the online brokers like Trussle or Habito or not, they make it look a little too easy.
