Gallagher is:
1) Talented;
2) young.

Obviously, he needs to stay at Blackburn, if we have any hope of climbing up the table. If Rovers are able to sign him, and don't, I would say we have an infestation of stupidity.

We can't afford to sign him. Thought that would have been evident by now....

Was there a point you were making with the rules copy and paste or just FYI?

I was curious as to whether there was anything prohibiting recall if a fee was paid. Doesn't look like there is, so would just be dependent on the agreement itself.

Sunderland scouting Gallagher for summor move.

Unsurprising, he's been great.

I guess that is one of the main pitfalls of loaning players given our current situation, we don't have the money or status to compete when it comes to securing them on a more permanent basis. But the benefit being it is a low cost and flexible option whilst you had them. The trick is always trying to repeat this type of success.

You'd suspect Southampton may want to keep hold of him anyway.

It's hardly a bad thing to loan a talented young player destined for bigger things. It's probably the best way to bring in some quality in our present situation. Sure, they're unlikely to stick around for more than a season. But if they're attracting attention it means they're doing well for us now and that's more important for us than building for the future at the moment.

No of course not and I know the terms of loans can vary from player to player but it's just good to know we have him all season. I also think it bodes well for us as a club, not in every case, that we will play and develop loans. And clubs often establish connections with other clubs where you see a constant stream of loans.

Coyle has history with successful loans too and generally speaking his transfer business has been very good to date.

Strong rumours again for the up coming transfer window that Rovers maybe interested in bringing Sam Gallagher back on loan. Why are Rovers buying Ben Brereton if this is the case. Anyway Gallagher proved he can score goals in the championship already even with a struggling team that was relegated. Brereton has looked anything but a goal scorer. Surely Tony Mowbray must be having second thoughts about spending over 10 million for someone who has not inspired anything yet. Rovers are also being linked with Gillingham forward Tom Eaves.

Brereton cost £7m not over £10m once we complete the sale next month. He is also only 19 and it's clear we've made a calculated investment for his future development.

It's not fair the say he doesn't look like the a goalscorer when he's had very limited time on the pitch and that has always been as a wide attacker, but even in those limited appearances he's made an impact with key assists.

Bringing Gallagher on loan makes a lot of sense as we're still light on central strikers even if Brereton was starting there every week which he isn't. We aren't scoring enough goals given the chances we create and are overly reliant on Dack or Graham scoring.

Great signing for the price. I think that pretty much solidifies the top end of the squad attacking wise.

Coyle also brought in Anthony Stokes, a young Norwegian called Martin Samuelson, Stephen Hendrie and Jack Byrne. All of which failed. Danny Graham i think was signed by Coyle after Paul Lambert had signed him on loan. Derrick Williams i think was signed by Coyle. Tommy Hoban was signed on loan but was injured for much of the season but impressed when he did play. So pretty much 50/50 on the Owen Coyle signings for Rovers...so where did it all go wrong! :)
