Aston Villa v Blackburn Rovers, Sat 30 March 2019, KO 15:00

Long break, hopefully we might have a Mulgrew or Rodwell back in the lineup. Would also be refreshing to see Rothwell getting a run in the lineup, and maybe some more Magloire.

If McGloire played alongside Lenihan or Mulgrew it would do him the world of good.

Yes I dislike these long breaks.

I look to see the defending vastly improved, & I believe it will be. I’m looking to gain a point vs a solid team on the road.

Reports saying we have all our defenders in training right now. That begs the question, does Mowbray start a combo or does he keep riding Magloire Hype Train and partners him with Mulgrew or Lenihan?

Good that we should have a "first" choice back 4 tomorrow eventhough I'm not sure what it is. But Villa have the best scoring record at home this season and we've got the worst defensive record away this season. They're also looking to cement a play-off spot and are within reach of the automatic spots, tomorrow if going to be very difficult.

Magloire not on the coach according to Mowbray. I only hope Wiiliams and Evans aren't either.

Mowbray again stating that both Davenport and Chapman are not ready to be considered yet for the first team. With the first team struggling i disagree with that opinion. Rovers are struggling to defend which at this moment in time there isnt much can be done until the summer. Lenihan who appears to be the great saviour last played when Rovers shipped five goals so i would be a bit guarded if anyone is expecting a clean sheet. The better teams in the championship have found out if you stop Dack then Rovers only other chance of a goal is via a Mulgrew set piece. Danny Graham is largely reliant on service from midfield and the wings. Rovers need to give the opposition something else to think about going forward. I agree starting both Davenport and Chapman would be a bit risky but equally it sounds a bit dumb not to have them as substitutes.

I think that's the conundrum with a match like this. Tough opponent, do you bring the youngsters in to play them or do you throw in the veterans to protect the youngsters for a more reasonable challenge?

Personally, I think we could risk Chapman here and play him. Maybe Davenport.

Thor, I hear what you’re saying; yes, I hold ‘em for the more reasonable challenge. We need our best healthy 11 tomorrow, on the road, against a playoff probable team. To START. Maybe keep one or two “diaper dandies” to sub off the bench, if the old reliables aren’t cuttin’ the mustard.

I’m not sure it matters who plays today. Aside from Graham the youngsters do just as well if not better than our senior players really.

Don't think I'll be a million miles away with this lineup
Raya
Nyambe Mulgrew Lenihan Bell
Rothwell Travis Evans Bennett
Dack
Graham

Did you also forget to put Reed instead of Evans? :hyper:

I think Evans will be the first one to go in the off-season... unless Conway retires. In Evans’ case, please let the youth play.
