The Bolton chaos
It is many years since a Football League club failed to complete its fixtures.
I seem to remember that when that happened, all the fixtures played by the club in question had to be 'expunged' from the season's records. Rovers would suffer particularly, losing 6 points, and such a situation would have a major effect on all promotion and relegation issues.
I'm surprised that the Football League hasn't stepped in to avoid this chaos.

Yeah I just had a look and Norwich, Sheff Utd and Leeds all took 6 points off Bolton but not sure about the rest of say the top 10 and any teams up there that took less points from Bolton could hugely benefit.

If the players and staff are on strike, the league can fuck off. Cant make people work for free.Gibbon wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 5:36 pmThe remaining fixtures are said to be postponed and the league have said they must be played.
Re: The Bolton chaos
Not sure the EFL have covered themselves in much glory over what’s happened to Bolton. It’s been death by a 1,000 cuts and they’ve not really done anything and just watched it happen.
Re: The Bolton chaos
But the club is still required to fulfill the fixtures, presumably if they can't find 11 players for that fixture they would default to a loss and be fined for failing to put a team out.yankfan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 6:41 pmIf the players and staff are on strike, the league can fuck off. They could put 11 fans out, no bother. They’re relegated, but what fan wouldn’t play for the club they support for free?

Re: The Bolton chaos
This is poor form from the Bolton players. The fans will remember this and come August there will be a lot of resentment towards those who remain at the club. Bolton could start next season with a points deduction and a fine. There is always local rivalry but this is not right what is happening. Good luck to everyone who follows Bolton and i hope the problems can be sorted before next season kicks off.

Well said Darth Rover, Bolton are a good Lancs club with a great history. I spent many happy/sad moments at the mud-hole called Burnden Park! Their long-suffering supporters might appreciate some mental support right now poor sods, there but for the grace of Venkies.... (or will it eventually be, there WITH the grace of Venkies...?)

The Venkies are keeping the club's head above water, otherwise, as you say, 'there but for the grace of God'.................

And the thing to do to combat this, is to stop watch PL football, stop watching Champions League football, especially on the telly box.

Bolton v Brentford match cancelled, Brentford awarded the three points which drops us down to 15th.

Re: The Bolton chaos
I bet many Bolton fans would take 15th in the championship right now. Too much money in football these days...players paid far too much and treated like royalty. When it all goes wrong though its the club with its years of tradition that suffers. Look at Portsmouth and now Bolton. Could have easily been Rovers too.Gibbon wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 7:06 pmBolton v Brentford match cancelled, Brentford awarded the three points which drops us down to 15th.

Re: The Bolton chaos
Relatively harmless in this situation, but it could be problematic in other situations. What if Brentford had been in the relegation positions, or just outside the playoffs? For example, a team that got relegated because they were leap-frogged by a side that hadn't played would feel hard done by, or Brentford would feel cheated if they'd needed a +2 goal difference to make 6th and were only awarded a 1-0 win. What if it was second versus third, with a three point gap and the team in second would be guaranteed promotion so long as they only lost 0-1? I don't know what could work better though.Gibbon wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 7:06 pmBolton v Brentford match cancelled, Brentford awarded the three points which drops us down to 15th.

As I said - when this happened years ago, that team't results were totally expunged. ie as if they had never -played a match.
