Friendly: Blackpool vs Blackburn Rovers

Post by Darth Rover » Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:56 am

A nice day out on the coast for the players before the season starts next Saturday. It always concerns me playing some of the first teamers in friendlys so close to the new season. We can't risk losing Lenihan for example given at this present time Rovers do not look anymore stronger than last season in the centre of defence.

Right, this is particularly worrisome. Guys stay healthy, or unproven youth will get their chance very early.

Blackpool has a decided Blackburn-Ex look to it, with Spearing & Delfouneso starting, Feeney on the bench

That’s almost our best side probably. I know Downing is only starting there due to our left back injury crisis, but other than that, that’s got the makings of a very decent side.

Subbed out everybody but Walton...
Brereton comes in, & almost immediately scores, rebounds Smallwood’s free kick

I hesitate to use the word, & I loathe being a sunshine-pumper... daresay, does this team have chemistry?!

FT, 0-2.

A successful conclusion to summer friendlies. Now, the real thing begins.

Another good result to bring some optimism for the start of the new season. Next weeks opponents Charlton got done 4-1 today by Aston Villa. Rumours that Joe Nuttall could be joining Blackpool on loan.

It really is a relief that none of these are Rovers players anymore! Reminds me of darker times :o

I think a loan move for Nuttall would be a wise move. I like him as a player but he is still behind Gallagher, Graham and probably Samuel in the pecking order so would be good for him to get a first team run in somewhere.
