Rebranding would be a disaster. Possibly the biggest disaster the club has ever seen, possibly ever. I have seen a lot of disasters, managed many myself, and this is a disaster. Big disaster, ocean sized disaster. It would be such a disaster, that other mascots would laugh at us. We would become the laughing stock of mascots. Other mascots would say, "that mascot was a disaster to rebrand." That's why we need to keep Rover as our mascot, and Make Rovers Great Again!

Should be our easiest match of the season. Newly promoted side, that was the weakest of the three coming up. Lost their top 2 players and all transfers in are from league 1 or below. I just hope our back line dont concede 3 or 4. This man city deal is dragging on, so even if completed this week hard to see him in the side at the weekend.

I'm guessing we will have a back 4 of Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, and Bennett. Not very inspiring, so we better put some in at the other end.

Charlton never do much when up north even when they have a decent team. If Rovers have any aspirations of bettering last season's 15th place then this is a game where three points should come without question. On a sad note it is terrible to hear the of the far too early passing of Rovers player Kevin Stonehouse aged 59.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/s ... re-season/

That's quite an interesting read going into a bit more detail about how Mowbray is trying to tactically shift away from Lenihan hitting long diagonals to Graham and Dack feeding off the second balls. Also alludes to how certain players may be used. The attacking width from left back certainly makes the most of Bell and his pace and ability to get forward. The left attacking position seems very well suited to Rothwell coming inside and seems like Armstrong and Gallagher of the strikers will occupy a position on the right. Guessing that leaves Graham and Brereton to play centrally which is good with Samuel to add to the equation.

Depending on getting in a ready to go CB I think we may line up something like:

----------------Walton
Bennett Lenihan Mulgrew Bell
-----------Travis Johnson
Armstrong----Dack---Rothwell
--------------Brereton

I think it would be a wise move to start Brereton, his confidence will be up from pre-season and gives him an opportunity to get off the mark early.

Armstrong, Travis, Johnson and Rothwell in those positions are a must for me in terms of a starting XI.

Shouldn't underestimate any fixture in this league and we've got a very tough set of fixtures across August, but we're more than capable of winning this if we play to our potential.

Pick one, you can't have both with Rovers.

The team has been upgraded across the board; lots of experience, while at the same time, spotting some youngsters time. We have a competitive squad. I agree, if we can’t win this, we probably can’t expect wins any other time this season.

With Samuel, Nuttall, Graham, Gallagher and Brereton we have five recognised centre forwards. In retrospect I think we'd have been better off signing Harrison Reed than Gallagher.

I think it's better to have Gallagher anyway. Really need a new replacement for Graham, and Brereton is still rather young. Plus, it would be extremely hard to fit Reed into this lineup now, with the crowded midfield we have.

Just that I was so impressed with Reed last year. To my mind Travis and Reed are the ideal centre midfield.

I agree with this. Unfortunately, we have Johnson, Evans, Smallwood, and possibly Downing.
