I would be happy with a win here. Just to give something for supporters.

I think the main thing is to get a clean sheet and score a load of goals just to get things going for the weekend. That's an obvious thing to say but I'd stick with the same CB pairing, give Cunningham a debut and certainly thing Brereton should be given start. Wouldn't change things too much but opportunity to perhaps give Rankin-Costello, Buckley and Chapman some competitive game time too.

Would really like Chapman to get game time. I think he was the type of player that was missing for us on Saturday to bring on off the bench. Someone who can take on a full back, (and not run it out of play like Armstrong)

I like where all of your thoughts are going. Chapman and Brereton need a start. Rankin-Costello has been used at right back before in preseason, let's see if he can play there against Oldham. Cunningham needs to start to get in the lineup.

I just hope Dack can find some of his magic again.

I rather think the old firm of Smallwood and Evans might get a start alongside some of the youngsters.
I agree with the comments re Chapman, he was a revelation when coming on last season. With him on the left,Armstrong on the right, Dack and Rothwell in the middle we should have enough firepower to break down most defences.
Downing has brought nothing to the squad so far and I just wonder if the club will lose patience with Davenport. The other player that caught my eye last season was Butterworth-would love to see him get some game time.

Mowbray has confirmed Chapman will be in the squad for tomorrow. Nyambe available too.

Personally I’d start with a near on first eleven and try and get the tie won in the first half. We can’t complain of fatigue and a win/a few goals will give them confidence going in to Saturday.

Judging but the comments in the LT it sounds like he is going to be making a lot of changes. Could be something along the lines of:

----------------Walton
Bennett Nysmbe Grayson Cunningham
---------Smallwood Evans
Armstrong------Dack----------Rothwell
-----------------Brereton

Front 4 could be anything really butt with Bennett as captain and Adarabioyo and Williams to be rested sounds like Nyambe, Grayson and Cunningham will come into defence with a hint that Evans and Smallwood could return. Wouldn't surprise me if Graham started as striker.

This is an ideal opportunity to play from the start some of our very promising young players. We have Joe Rankin Costello, John Buckley, Dan Butterworth, Joe Grayson and more all waiting for a chance and its only right Rovers give them that chance. We already have Nyambie, Travis and Lenihan who have made the grade. Lets have a few more.

Team:

----------------------Leutwiler
Nyamber Platt Grayson Cunningham
‐--------------Smallwood Evans
Brereton----------Buckley--------Downing
---‐--------------------Graham

May not be in that formation. Could be 442 with Buckley and Downing wide.

Totally against what I was hoping for

I guess it’s a balancing act as to what is most beneficial to get a positive result come Saturday. I’m always a believer of winning breeds confidence and also for these new players to play with each other more and more to get a feel for the system.

Let’s see what happens....

Rovers are never going to win the water buffalo cup so its to Rovers advantage to use the games for those players who can give Tony Mowbray other options for the season to come. Good to see Harry Chapman available.
