Blackburn Rovers v. Stoke

Some have said this is a “must win.” I don’t know about that, but Rovers have been in good form, despite injuries. Meanwhile Stoke appears to be playing much better football.

Every game seems to be a must win.

After last night's results all going for us (Cardiff losing was probably for the best too) we're finally back in that position where we could move into 7th place and just 2 points off the last play-off spot.

I think Stoke will come here tonight and crock their way to a point. Although Travis is a marked improvement on what we've had in recent years, I still think we've got a bit of a soft touch about us and the strong teams that play 'anti-football' cause us more problems than the decent teams.

I'm not sure what the weather forecast is for tonight. But it's currently calm and sunny (after it tried to snow). If it's blustery that will work in Stoke's favour.

I fear another of our infamous 'Yeovil moments'. 1-1.

I agree with all you say, except the prediction. I will say 2-1.

Stoke are playing much better under O’Neill, but their defending has been porous all year. Rovers are 4th in goals. Our Lads will find a way to get one more in than stoke does.

Could Rothwell & Gallagher’s return be meaningful? I’m hoping so. Gallagher is overdue for a goal. I’m thinking creativity in midfield receives a boost tonight. Therein is the difference over a scrappy Stoke squad.

A lot of these matches are must win. We have to take full advantage of dropped points around us if we are going to hit playoffs. With Leeds still on the schedule, along with Bristol City, WBA, Swansea, and Cardiff, that's 5 of 12 matches remaining against the top 10.

As long as we don't play how we did in the 2nf half against Brentford, we should do well.

I saw Tony’s interview after the 2-2 draw with Brentford and he looked furious. Although many fans, including myself, thought it was still a good point it’s great to see there’s a real belief that we should be beating Brentford and making the play offs.

I’ll go with a Waco, a nervy 2-1 win :hyper:

If Mowbray and the squad are really aiming for a play-off spot then it is a must win.

If we get to the end of the season and finish between 10th and 7the that will still represent real progress especially without Dack for half the season.

When you look at the table I think the top 5 will remain as if. Brentford and Fulham have enough quality I think to keep up there. Preston and Bristol seem to be faltering somewhat and feels like it's a few teams fighting for that spot.

A win tonight and something against Swansea is what we need really.

Agreed; realistically, I’m not sure we can count on all 6 pts.. but at least 4 should be expected.

Question: I never posted my pictures here from my trip to Ewood; could somebody explain to me by PM (or open forum, for that matter) how to do it? I’d really like to get some of these pic’s up. Thanks!

If they're uploaded to your computer, upload them to imgur.com, then through a magic wand, a seance, and spinning around in your front yard three times and spitting afterwards, you can post them.

Walton
Nyambe Tosin Lenihan(c) Bell
Travis Johnson Downing Rothwell
Gallagher Armstrong

No backs on the bench? Hmmm

I want badly for Gallagher to have a great game; or, just anybody to help Armstrong with the scoring. That midfield should distribute for at least a couple of goals.

I’m staying with 2-1...

With no defenders on the bench today, that makes the next two matches very problematic.

Was our 'goal' offside? I didn't get a good look at it.

Surely Mulgrew has got to come back. Hasn't he?

It's bizarre what's gone on there.

Rovers have the possession on lock down so far, but nothing really creative going on. A lot of centreback play. Rothwell is a breath of fresh air, but losing Lenihan for the next 2 matches is pretty big. You have to wonder what is wrong with Mulgrew, and if Williams can come back from injury quick enough.

Stoke is just bunkering down when Rovers have possession, so a goal would have to come from a break.
