New Manager poll - select your top three choices

Fairly pleased with this, again fits the model the club want to build; should mesh well with Broughton. More knowledge of smaller European markets which should stand us in good stead for transfers hopefully. Tactically he seems fairly flexible formation wise but does favour attacking football which is exciting to hear. Good record of being at clubs which have to focus on youth development in Netherlands/Sweden etc. You never know, maybe he picked up a thing or two from Carlo at Milan; perhaps he was the phone call rather than Big Duncan

Yeah, the most pleasing thing is that the owner's set out that the recruitment would look to build on the structure Mowbray had put in place and they have in theory done that. Obviously there are no guarantees in football but it really looks like a sensible set of appointments to take another step forward.

On paper looks as good appointment as we could expect.

I am glad to get some people in who seem to be genuinely glad to be at Blackburn Rovers. Perhaps all that positivity will radiate to the players and fans. At least, they’re saying all the right things.

Talk is cheap.
This time next year, what would need to happen for Tomasson to have had an acceptable first year in charge? Promotion? Play-offs? Mid-table? Avoid relegation? Progress getting the current squad to adapt to a new style of play? Bringing through more academy players? Having a clear out and strengthening with fresh faces?

He really needs to match the previous year as a minimum. If you get worse for no apparent reason (one may occur of course) then it's got to be down to him and those around him if all else remains largely the same. You'd hope for play offs really now wouldn't you but we also need more firepower to do that realistically.

I would say just a bit more consistency for me personally, under Mowbray we went into many matches not knowing if we’d win 4-0 or get rolled over without a shot on target. Apply that to the whole season as a whole so we don’t have relegation form post-February and I’d be happyRover the Top wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 9:39 amTalk is cheap.

Yeah it'd be much better if we knew we were just going to get rolled over without a shot on target.... consistency is key.El Sphero wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 4:53 pmI would say just a bit more consistency for me personally, under Mowbray we went into many matches not knowing if we’d win 4-0 or get rolled over without a shot on target. Re: New Manager poll - select your top three choices
I think we need to see what the squad looks like come the start of the season. We've lost Rothwell and Lenihan two of our most important players last season one of which was captain. Loanees have gone back to Brighton one of which was our player of the season and it's possible we'll lose Nyambe along with BBD.
But from listening to Broughton there is a transfer budget and you get the sense they have a really good knowledge of the European market so hopeful we'll pick up some good transfers. The combined knowledge of the Scandinavian leagues might also help in terms of players being eligible through the GBE points system.
There has also been an emphasis on the style of football and continued development of young players so Premier League loans likely to be as important as they've been the last few season.
Still think there is a lot to be really optimistic about but it could well be a transitional season.
